Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Madison County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to the site may be retained for the purpose of responding. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Information Collected Automatically
Normal server and analytics functions record technical details when a page loads, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- Visited pages and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The referring website, when available
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies, which are small files saved on a device, help measure traffic patterns and page use. Analytics services combine that information into site-performance reports. A browser can reject cookies, though disabling them may change how some functions behave.
How Information Is Used
- Diagnosing faults and other technical problems
- Measuring which pages are useful or need improvement
- Operating the website and maintaining acceptable load times
- Routing a submitted query to the selected search provider
- Displaying advertising that may reflect a visitor's interests
No Criminal-Record Database
Madison County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content identifies official sources such as Madison courts, local records custodians, Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not turned into consumer reports or third-party dossiers.
Outside Search Providers
Independent companies operate the search boxes. A query entered there is governed by the provider's privacy policy, including its retention and disclosure rules. Those practices are outside this site's control, so readers should review the provider's terms before submitting information.
External Websites
Links may lead to court portals, local agencies, Kentucky offices, legal resources, or commercial search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal data.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads. That processing does not occur on systems controlled by Madison County Criminal History.
Limited Data Disclosure
Personal data is not sold. Information may still reach the following parties for operational or legal reasons:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
- Advertising networks that supply ads
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers that process a query submitted through their tool
Data Security
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information under the site's control. No internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, however, and this policy does not promise that a breach is impossible.
Visitors Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be removed when a valid request brings it to the operator's attention.
Your Privacy Choices
Rights may vary by residence and applicable law. Kentucky consumer protections, including the Kentucky Consumer Protection Act at KRS 367.110 through 367.300, may also apply. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- Opt out of some forms of processing
- Request deletion of personal information
