Where to Request Records
Route a Madison County request according to the document needed:
- Court case files: use the Madison County criminal court case route. Circuit records are at 101 W. Main St., Richmond, 859-624-4713; District records are at 351 W. Main St., 859-624-4722. Both counters are open weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- State criminal histories and official checks: follow the current program instructions from Kentucky State Police, Criminal Identification and Records Branch. AOC FastCheck and its one-time product provide Kentucky court-record reports, not certified Madison files.
- Booking and jail records: contact Madison County Detention Center, 107 W. Irvine St., Richmond, KY 40475, at 859-624-4710. Its business office is open weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Police incident or arrest reports: ask the agency that wrote the report. Richmond Police uses the city open-records channel; Berea Police Records is at 212 Chestnut St. and can be reached at 859-986-8456.
- County public records: use Madison County's online open-records form and select the division that actually keeps the requested document.
- Expungement: obtain the disposition and current Kentucky forms, then file in the Madison court that handled the case.
Madison County has no single criminal-history desk. The sheriff's nonemergency number is 859-623-1511, but court, jail, police, and state-repository records remain with separate custodians.
